In the Spring of 1999, Katy Cheung, Sam Chiu, Jean Chu, Bethzaida Fandialan, Mei Han, Yen Thu Huynh, Amy Lee, Becky Ng, Jenny Ng, Helen Nguyen, Sharina Palencia, AeHee Park, and Jacqueline Wong, formed an elite group of women that would uphold the ambition of creating a status for Asian-American women at Rutgers University by establishing a chapter of alpha Kappa Delta Phi.

Our goal is to build a foundation for future Asian-American women at Rutgers University for a chance to voice their opinions and to stand against all adversities. With these aspirations, the sisters of Rutgers University alpha Kappa Delta Phi hope to develop a stronger character so that we may be able to stand up for ourselves, as Asian-American woman. From this point on, our actions will be noticed, our voices will be heard, and we will no longer be lingering behind the shadow of other cultures, but rather standing firm within our own Asian-American heritage.
